J. August Richards was born on 28th August 1973 in Washington D.C as Jaime Augusto Richards III. At the age of 14 he decided to change his name due to the fact that people, other than his family, found it hard to pronounce.
Charles Gunn was introduced in season one's "War Zone" when Angel got caught in the middle of a melee with Gunn and several vampires. He is a rogue vampire slayer fighting to save lives on the streets. However, he harbours deep guilt over his inability to save his sister Alonna from death at the hands of several vampires. Gunn enjoys dangerous missions. Gunn is now employed at Angel Investigations.

Gunn and Angel, are not friends,yet, Gunn said maybe someday he would be his friend, but he still wants to work with him. Gunn liked helping Angel out in Season 2 and then when he got offered pay and became a member of Angel Investigations, he was happy.

Gunn And Fred
Gunn and Fred got together, before Wesley could make a move. Wesley resented Gunn for this, but still ahd to work with him. Bu then when Wesley helped Fred open a portal to kill her old proffesser and Gunn killed him so Fred didn't carry the burden, Gunna nd her have had a tough time. Recently Gunn and Fred broke up as Gunn walked in on them kissing.

After nemerous arguments with his gang, for working with Angel, he left them and choose Angel Investigations.
